One of my favorite things about the Christmas holiday, is seeing everyone’s home beautifully decorated. My team and I find ourselves extra busy this time of year, as we are blessed to custom decorate many of our clients’ homes.
Although no two homes are the same when it comes to holiday décor, there are popular styles that many of us follow. Often the existing décor of our home factors in with how we choose to decorate for Christmas. For those of you who have yet to tackle your Christmas decorations and may be looking for some inspiration, here are a few examples of the more popular styles:
Traditional Red & Green:
Red and green are the most traditional colors of Christmas, but “traditional” doesn’t have to mean boring or stodgy. This garland (below) is the perfect example of how to create a fun and whimsical look while still using the popular red and green colors. You can add a nice contrast element by using different patterns and textures of mesh and ribbon, ornaments and even some fun floral “picks” to really make it unique.
Gold is always a nice complement to red and green. When it comes to your tree, don’t be afraid to add large ornaments throughout, as they only add to making the tree more bold and vibrant.
Decorating doesn’t have to stop with the tree, garland and wreaths. Apothecary jars offer a great option to continue the theme throughout the home.
Elegant – Glamorous – Metallic:
There is nothing wrong with adding a little extra sparkle! Using a modern metallic palette with colors of gold, silver, copper and maybe even some black, white and graphite, can add a luxe, elegant and glamorous element to your décor.
Whites, ivories, silvers, and golds make for a classic color combination.
Rustic – Country – Farmhouse :
Bring a little farmhouse design to your holiday décor by using texture, neutral hues and natural materials. Mixed pine, burlap, metal ribbon, pinecones, rusty jingle bells and wooden pieces are all great ways to add a little farmhouse flare.
