We are currently working on a project for a client in the Vickery Park Conservation District who is building a new home. They have quite a few large furniture pieces that have already been purchased (sofas) and some existing pieces that we are re-covering. Additionally, we have window treatments to make and pillows to create – so we have quite a bit of fabric to identify for the project!
I was looking at the worktable this morning, as we were organizing the memos (samples) we are NOT using to return to our vendors and decided to count them.

Fabric!
There were 527 different fabrics we sourced to narrow it down. Wow! That is a LOT! We currently sit at 44 different fabrics we are layering into this home – some may change but we are pretty satisfied with them all. That does not include any trim or details! Simply fabric selections.

An Ocean of Blue Fabric
We have multiple shades of blue that are being woven through the house. These are only 18 of the lighter shades of blue we considered.

Durability
It is amazing how many options there are when it comes to fabric. Not only do you have to consider the patterns that work together, but also the durability of the fabric to withstand usage (how many actual “rubs” the fabric can withstand before showing wear). Not all fabrics are suited for upholstery! Our client has some fur-babies that enjoy using the furniture, so we are sourcing items that will withstand the rubs AND the stains that could occur from the four legged types.
Overall, it helps to hire an interior decorator to create a fabric “story” throughout your house. In this instance, all of the pillows can be re-arranged into other rooms of the house, the window treatments are classic-yet-current so they won’t need to be changed for years (both saving the client money). We can’t wait to share the design with our client. If you want to follow the project as we start revealing a few details, check the hashtag #ProjectMillerAve on Instagram & Facebook (our links are below).
If you need assistance with fabrics or anything else design / decorating related, give us a call. We have a variety of services that could be of assistance!

P.S. I am also on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Houzz – where you will find more images that don’t always make the blog or the website.
