It is officially February. Wedding season is right around the corner. So is Valentine’s Day. And because I call myself “efficiently lazy”, I am combining a gift guide for the newlyweds AND Valentine’s Day gifts for your shopping pleasure.
I do not like to give “standard” gifts – I like to venture to a little unusual and personal and not always with what the newlyweds are registered for (yes, I’m a rebel) – or what my Valentine would expect. So without further ado, here are a few of this year’s favorite ideas for those newlyweds or Valentine’s Day gift giving events. Click on any of the images to direct you to the source.
I am a huge fan of unique doormats. It sets a tone for your guests as they arrive and can be such a whimsical talking point. We love to give cool door mats to our clients as a surprise gift as they go through the design process with us. (Although I guess that isn’t such a surprise anymore now that the idea is published.)
And who doesn’t love fresh flowers? Although if you’re a woman giving the gift to your man, tell him he can toss his spare change into this gorgeous vase when you don’t have it filled with beautiful blooms. The monogram is actually etched into the vase and filled with a beautiful gold paint. Dreamy, right?
So I saw those super cute champagne flutes in the image for the vase (above) and had to have a closer look. Well played, Mark + Graham, you got me for two items that would be in my shopping cart instead of just one. And these (below) are super cute because you can personalize them with laser engraving.
I seem to be in a celebratory mood as I shop for lovebirds everywhere. Here are some more bar accouterments that jumped onto my radar:
And again with the good marketing, I scrolled down a couple of rows and thought how awesome would it be to have the above tumblers with this decanter?
Obviously my reference point is based on the fact that I have a lot of friends and family members who enjoy
drinking entertaining. But it sure makes it fun and easy to shop for these people!
So if you’re looking for something NOT booze related (other than a fun doormat) here are a few more cool options:
I’m in love with this Elisabetta Slouch handbag (below), especially with the bamboo handle. So if anybody wants to send ME a Valentine’s Day gift, consider this a great hint. I like the blush color the most, but I would also be okay with the orange, and white color. I’m not picky. And I’m sure if your Valentine received this gorgeous purse for her Valentine’s Day gift, she would not argue about the color either.
And for him, these gorgeous Elkhide slippers from L.L. Bean to keep his tootsies warm. These look like you could even wear them outside (to get the mail, maybe not to the grocery store though because that would kind of eliminate your Valentine’s coolness factor).
And finally, this personalized cutting board is stylish enough for young and old. Newlywed or Valentine gift. You name it. Literally. Ha Ha. Get it? You name it. It’s a personalized cutting board. Yeah, bad joke. (And no, I have not been testing any of the champagne flutes or decanters listed above.) This Etsy purchase can be modified with a variety of designs.
So there you go. A small handful of ideas for gifts you can purchase for the newlyweds or your Valentine. None that would break the bank or be re-gifted. Although, I am still available for the handbag if you give it to your Valentine and she wants something different….
There are so many fun options to choose from, these are just a few that are appropriate for either Newlyweds or Valentine’s Day. I hope some of these ideas may lessen your shopping time this year! And if you didn’t find anything in this list, you can always consider giving our Designer For A Day consultative service. Call for details!
