Whether you skip town for a snowy ski resort or roast marshmallows with the family after opening gifts on Christmas day….we all enjoy a good tradition that makes the Holidays extra special for us. I personally love the time leading up to Christmas, making our home warm and cozy and enjoying the festive twinkling lights around town.
Driving through the city during the weeks leading up to Christmas, hunting for the best light display, is one of my favorite traditions with my husband…we call it “Christmas Creepin” and we jam out to classic Christmas music as we ride along. If you’re in the Dallas area, Highland Park is saturated with impressive light installations, just check out the picture below…we are standing in front of someone’s HOME! This was last year, and our sweet friend invited us on a tour via limo ride, with a group, and I kid you not, we ended up party crashing and singing a Christmas carol at her neighbor’s house when we returned to our cars. I’ll never forget the (awesome) experience and looks on their faces…they were full of cheer of course!

Vitruvian Lights in Addison, Texas is another favorite of ours. They transform Vitruvian Park by wrapping more than 550 trees in millions of LED lights…it’s pretty impressive and magical – just ask my colleague and friend Megan Parten, she just got engaged there last week!

Lastly, my most treasured tradition, making an evening of selecting a live tree with my husband and decorating it together with our dogs while we, again, jam out to classic Christmas music. This year we opted for a 4’ Fraser Fir and mixed it up by putting it in a basket. It’s small and minimal but SO full of cheer and love!! Next year we are going to mix it up even further more and venture out to chop down our own at a tree farm. Any recommendations?

Christmas is definitely my favorite time of the year, the lights, the social gatherings, loved ones in town, delicious goodies galore and most importantly the celebration of the birth of our Jesus Christ! What makes this holiday extra special for you?? Is there a tradition you cherished as a kid and have now passed on to your own? Whether the Elf on the Shelf makes an appearance in your home or you leave cookies and milk out for Santa establishing traditions are important and such a wonderful way to bond with your family and/or friends!
Merry Christmas!
