Have you ever wanted to do something new and there were voices in your head that told you not to? That you couldn’t do it or wouldn’t be good at it. Yeah. Those “coaches” in your head are the ones I’m talking about.
I call mine “The Committee”.
You know, the a@@holes who undermine your confidence. Tell you not to try something because you’ll fail, or not be good enough, or whatever. And they say these things for no good reason. But we listen. And often believe them.
Unless.

UNLESS you recognize that these voices are not real. Nor are the voices you. You know you’re not your mind. What?! Think about it: You are not your mind. The noise they create are not you.
But you ARE the boss of your mind. And in turn, you are the boss of your Committee. I wrote a couple of Monday Motivation posts on just managing your thoughts. You can find the posts HERE and HERE.
So, that noise, or The Committee are under YOUR command. I found that giving them a name makes it easier to recognize when they’re piping up uninvited.

So, knowing you’re not crazy, and that we all have these negative little boogers telling us that we can’t do this or can’t do that, take control of them. Tell The Committee (or whatever you choose to name them) that they are FIRED. Relieved of duty. No longer welcome. Adios. Whatever it is that works for you, but the key is acknowledging the voices are there. They are just wrong.
Hey, but as a disclaimer, if the voices are telling you to hurt yourself or somebody, then please seek help. Those are different voices.
So to recap, the first step is to recognize the voices when they pop into your mind. Then acknowledge they are not correct. And then tell them to get lost.
