A well designed space should have good lighting.
And one of the intentions of our new studio is to draw the eye in from the front windows. So I wanted some lighting I could leave on and catch the attention from the street / parking lot / outer space. So I selected the gorgeous Rondeau Chandelier from Currey & Company.
I loved the fixture on line, but did not go to the showroom to see it in person. Unfortunately, when it was installed I knew immediately that it was too bronze in color. If you look closely at the photo above, you can see the bottom piece where I started to paint it a more silver color. I wanted to blend it with the golden tones so it would be a nice combo.
Above is the “after” color. You can’t see the streaking, but the original bronze color peeked through slightly – but nicely. I was pretty pleased with myself and my paintbrush. But alas, all was not well.
I put the lightbulbs in, stood back, took a deep breath and flipped the switch. TA-DA!!! It was lovely. But it was not fully illuminated. I hoped it was the bulb, so I switched that out. To no avail. Sigh. The fixture was faulty. And since I had painted it, I wasn’t certain they would take it back. Plus, we were moving in the following week. I had to salvage the situation.
I was on a mission.
So I went to Lamps Plus to see what they had in stock. And then I prayed.
This gorgeous mirrored chandelier was on their showroom floor, but according to their computer, there wasn’t any in stock throughout the city. I explained the situation to the gal helping me and thankfully she took a couple extra minutes to go back and check their stock. Miraculously, there was a single unit that had not been picked up from somebody who had set it aside the week before. BINGO! The chandelier was mine!
It was swapped out the following week. We moved in and I am even happier with my replacement chandelier than with the original selection. You notice those awesome desks in the background? More deets on them in THIS post. But for now, I’ll leave you with a sneak peek of the “living room” in our studio, which features this beautiful chandelier:
Yeah, it’s hard to take your eyes off the chandelier long enough to drool over that sofa, isn’t it? Stay tuned. I’ve got some more gorgeous updates for you and some decisions that still have yet to be made to finish this studio…..
