Spring is finally here! With the bright sunshine and gorgeous temperatures, I always feel inspired to throw my windows open and enjoy the longer days. This time of year is also a great time to freshen (or clean) up your home and decor.
A great place to start cleaning is with your doormat. Sweep it and shake it to freshen it up – or replace it. Mark and Graham has my favorite options if you’re looking to purchase a new one.

When you’re done looking at the gorgeous doormat, step through the door and take a look at your flooring. Springtime is a great time to enlist a professional to clean all of your flooring surfaces – tile (including grout), wood, carpet – and rid your home of the dust and dirt that is tracked in during the winter months.

Now it is time to look UP and check your ceiling fans. It may be time to update them – or it may just be time to give them a good dusting. You can use a soft cloth, or a vacuum attachment with a soft nozzle.

And while you are looking up, check out your light fixtures and grab your ladder. Is it time to refresh or replace your chandeliers? (Also, isn’t this chandelier over this dining room table flawless?! Be sure to check out more images of this renovation here)

Your professional window washer is a great resource for those too-high-I’m-not-going-to-climb-to-clean light fixtures. So if you don’t already have them scheduled for your windows, this is the time to do it! I suggest professional window washing twice a year: in the springtime and in the fall. You’ll be amazed at the difference in your home.
Springtime is also a great time to clean the range hood in your kitchen. Not just the exterior…that’s a regular practice, of course…but the interior filters need to be popped out and cleaned with hot, soapy water. Oh, and if you’re looking around your kitchen in general and think you need more than just a deep clean, we can help with your renovation.

And finally, don’t forget to wash your bedroom linens. Obviously, you’re washing the sheets year round, but if you are not examining your duvet cover, comforter or quilt, you may need to take a closer look and send it to the dry cleaners. I enjoy changing my bedding with the seasons and go with a lighter weight and a lighter / white color as we draw into the warmer weather.
One of my favorite retail options is the Belgian Flax Linen Duvet Cover from West Elm. It is simple, soft, washable, will coordinate wth any style decor – AND is a smoking hot price point.
Those are some of my favorite springtime cleaning and decorating tips. All of which I employ around my personal home. What are some of your favorite springtime practices?
