The Story

This house began as heavily traditional and Tuscan-inspired, and didn’t quite fit with the level of sophistication that the neighborhood possessed. With the help of ML Interiors Group, this house was converted into a home bursting with levity and openness, allowing a more natural flow of transitional spaces. Creating a balance between desire and expenses is a difficult challenge to overcome, but with careful planning and thoughtful consideration and prioritizing, it IS possible to utilize the budget in a way that is effective and highly impactful.

Formal Living Room

Without stripping the home of its natural features, white paint color was utilized to tone down the weight of the darker moldings and highlight the texture on the walls throughout the design spaces. With a neutral background, our team was then able to utilize black paint thoughtfully to create dimension and focus - much like you see on the fireplace and mantel. Gold accents and pops of turquoise in the ottoman and art piece create small vignettes of elegance while keeping the room cohesive.

Kitchen

Carrara marble subway tile backsplash covers what was once a full wall of excessive cabinets - allowing natural light to cascade through double windows flanking an updated stainless steel ventilation hood. Dove gray painted doors and a touch of navy blue on the island cabinetry elicit a calm and easy vibe that lends to the pops of gold hardware sprinkled throughout the space. Light countertop and wall selections give the impression that this kitchen has been enlarged beyond the actual square footage - proving once again that attentive delineation can make all the difference.

Home office

Color juxtaposition is carried into the home office - but with a design that reverses what would normally be seen with neutral colors. Whereas black paint was used in the formal living room as an accent color, black was used in the office to emphasize the built-ins and subdue the brown of the wood flooring. With natural light illuminating the office desk and chair from tall windows, the rich tones surrounding do not overpower the design whatsoever. Instead, this contrast fosters a lavish experience for the occupant - whether needing a quiet space to study or a thoughtful place to be reflective. (Peep that striking turquoise making an appearance once again in the oversized wingback chair and rug - this will not be the last time!)

Family Room

By incorporating marble, brass, and gold accents throughout, the home is elevated to a level that is more in keeping with its ownership. Glass and mirror furnishings encourage a more expansive perspective of each space, lightening the mood with translucent colors and tasteful touches of pink and blue throughout. This can be seen most clearly in the family room design, as the client’s beautiful decorative geodes are displayed in niches on the focal wall - with each color ingeniously represented through artful accessories and furnishings. Bonus - all of the client’s technology and more practical accouterments have been cleverly hidden so as not to distract from the overall aesthetic.

Bedrooms

Customization played a key role in the master bedroom design, as the upholstered bed frame and surrounding artwork tie in the various elements presented throughout the space. Crystal chandeliers offer stylish bedside lighting and open up space on the mirrored nightstands, which reflect the gray shag rug in a fun way.

Textured and shimmering fabrics bring additional flare to each design, with hints of character illustrated in the wall art and accessories chosen. Never to be considered an afterthought, the guest bedrooms carry small hints of the overall design seen throughout the home - making these spaces that much more inviting.
