Last week I had the chance to unplug and recharge on the beach in Mexico with my handsome hubs. It’s something we love to do: toes in the sand, drink in hand, gourmet-inclusive meals, and Beach Butlers. Sigh. I already miss it. Will somebody bring me room service, please?
Some of my favorite things about a beach vacation is the serenity, especially mornings (yes, I am still up at the crack of dawn on some vacay days), the gorgeous colors found only in nature, and the chance to focus only on being present in the moment….
I generally don’t have my phone with me on vacation, but the hubs did carry his for the music it contained (we synced it up to the wireless speaker in our room) so I did grab it and snap a few pics. Here is the photo from the website of the room we booked, which had us at hello:
And it really was THAT awesome. Here is the pic I snapped while sitting on one of those chairs:
(Okay, so I have no idea WHY I cannot get this picture to stay rotated properly, it really wasn’t because of one too many cheladas – my favorite drink in Mexico – but tilt your head and you’ll get the idea.)
I was on vacation, so I didn’t stage the space with towels rolled up on the lounge chairs, a book or magazine sprawled open, and a fruity drink on the table. (But I thought about it!) We loved having this patio and pool after spending the day on the beach or when there was a super cool rainstorm late one afternoon! I did NOT love the mosquitoes that I believe feasted on me here.
A few steps down the beach was a marina:
We took a snorkeling tour from here.
And isn’t that sunrise view of the maria GORGEOUS? It was so quiet, with only the sounds of the water lapping on the beach. The colors are magnificent…I adore the golden hues (who doesn’t look good in these colors?!). And I’m on a blue kick in my own house and designs, so the various hues of the water as the sun rose was inspiring. I’ll dig up some photos of my personal spaces soon. Hopefully not taken with my phone, but I can’t guarantee it.
I’m about ready to book a return trip. What about you? Any vacation plans coming up? Do you find inspiration in your travels? Oh, I’ll be posting a what NOT to do from a design standpoint from a feature in our room. I’m laughing now thinking about it.
