The Story

The home had great modern architectural “bones” to start, and by creating aesthetic focal points throughout the home, a traditional flare is quietly visible within the interior. By adding bold paint colors where they would have the most dramatic impact, utilizing art special to the homeowner, and styling the spaces with custom fabrics, this design illustrates character and personality with sophistication to spare.

Family Room

Black made an intentional appearance in the family room first, giving the space a central focus - while the color was also incorporated into the formal dining space and accented in a manner that lent to that industrial-contemporary feel. A sentimental beach scene painting acted as the inspiration for the brighter elements seen in the color palette within this design, through the use of pastel blue and yellow. Small updates to the family room and kitchen such as fire spheres and new bar stools continue to tie these spaces together in a way that promotes balance, something that is gratifyingly given in each aspect of this design. New accessories and custom pillows and drapery accentuated the existing artwork wherever furnishings were placed, creating cohesion that traveled all the way to the second floor.

Kitchen

To finish out this incredible open layout, counter stools placed at the end of the island are the perfect sitting arrangement for three busy kids ready for breakfast. Quartzite countertops and european-style hardware were specifically chosen to provide durability for years of use. A custom vent hood and glass globe lighting complete this design in its entirety.

Master Bedroom

What was originally a “bump out” for a chimney, became a focal feature for the master bed and headboard. With built-ins placed on either side, plenty of bedside storage is now available for the occupants. A re-upholstered seating bench and subtly geometric rug tie everything together in this relaxing bedroom design.

Home office

A subtle and soothing “aqua-gray” color (as one of our designer’s dubs it) on the grasscloth walls creates a subtle and soothing vibe in this home office. Complete with a new furniture layout and specially selected hide rug and accessories, the homeowner is free to utilize this space in whatever manner suits them best.

Game Room

The upstairs game room had just as much thoughtfulness displayed, as the sectional was purposefully separated in a way that encouraged more interaction, as well as maintained ample storage space for the kid’s video games and various accouterments. Colors utilized in this room mesh well with the scheme already established, accented by a light fixture chosen for both height and illumination to act as the backdrop of this open area.
