Updating an older home with contemporary design can be a challenging prospect. ML Interiors Group rose to the occasion with a home that paid homage to the existing architecture but took bold steps forward.

As a modern homeowner living in a heavily traditional, old world style house, it can be difficult to marry the desire of new world style with pre-existing architecture. Savvy budgeting and clever use of paint promoted the kind of fluidity this space was needing - which was especially imperative to support the client’s love of entertaining.
To provide more openness within the main living space, natural light was invited by expanding the windows and reducing the footprint of the fireplace. This added an extra challenge as symmetry was now needed, and yet attentive design was also curated within this space as the fireplace was constructed with lines and angles that would be most pleasing to the eye, providing balance where there previously was none. This is also where the client’s speaker system was seamlessly incorporated into the design, allowing music and dance to take center stage whenever appropriate.
Design elements included small hints of wood, quartz fireplace (to convey the look of concrete), a blend of organic neutral colors such as gold, tan, and ivory, as well as a glossy matte blend to elevate the design to a level of sophistication suitable for the surrounding environment. Filled with clean lines and charming finesse, the outcome of this design provides upgraded functionality while promoting a flow from room to room that fits the homeowner’s lifestyle.
