The Story

As a family of four and growing, our client needed a space that would continue to grow with them. Midway Hollow offered the perfect location for our clients, but the house needed some extra “love” to fit the style and flow of this family. With the aid of ML Interiors Group, these working professionals were willing to begin the transformation process and “flip the script” on this flip house.

Entryway

The three major components to consider in this project were color, nature, and durability - and how to combine these elements in an organic way. In order to make the home feel more personal, the designer made sure to work with the traditional flow of the house while remaining trendy as new furnishings, lighting, and coverings were added throughout the house interior.

Formal Living Room

This simple living room was transformed into an elegant formal lounge boasting warmth you can feel year-round. To create symmetry, the walls flanking the marble fireplace were brought forward with custom built-ins to provide extra storage and plenty of shelving for decorative items. Coastal colors tastefully paint the room - as coral, teal, and variations of blue can be seen from the velvet performance fabric on the wingback chairs to the vinyl grasscloth wallpaper peeking through the neutral accessories on the bookshelves.

Kitchen

Rattan and wicker provide subtle texture to keep this space soft and light, with natural elements such as seagrass, seashells and seaglass utilized to maintain a botanical feel. Fabrics were thoughtfully chosen based on performance quality, ensuring longevity. Design choices included several wall coverings with tasteful patterns to fit the feel of each room where utilized. Rich, muddy tones with hints of color weave their way through the house to create a seamless transition from room to room.

Master Bedroom

This bedroom was all about repurposing what the homeowner already possessed, into a space that was functional and fit the rest of the design implemented throughout the home. Textured wallpaper acts as a delicate backdrop to the soft bedding flanked by navy lacquered seagrass nightstands. The rug ties in all the nuances of color seen throughout the room, adding a finishing touch to this space. A soft purple makes its debut once again in the bathroom (can you tell it’s the homeowner’s favorite color?) with darker hues present in the agate frame of the mirror. Gold hardware elevates this additive with new lighting fixtures.

Girl’s Room

With playfulness in mind, this designer merged pre-existing industrial lighting with youthful floral wallpaper and regal custom furniture to create a space that straddles the line between maturity and adolescence. Inspired by colors within the wallpaper, blush pink and grass green take center stage in the custom velvet headboards (notice the pink trim detail) and crushed velvet ottoman storage trunks at the foot of each bed.

Boy’s Room

As these rooms were slightly more unique in their shape, this designer decided to utilize paint to direct where the visual interest is drawn. Each corner of the room was specifically designed for a purpose, whether that is studying or reading a good book. With nods of sportsmanship in the accessories and subtle flow seen in the pattern on the rug, this room is a great fit for any age.

Game Room

These custom built-ins are not only visually appealing, but provide functional storage for hiding toys and games, while an added desk creates opportunities for writing and crafts. A neutral sectional allows the more vibrant colors to pop, such as the chartreuse shelves and teal shag rug.

The Joyful Result

By marrying the desire for vibrancy with the need for functionality, the final result is a home that displays a love for color, conversation, comfort and flow. Sophisticated symmetry and cohesion between spaces allows for the client to mix and match accessories and furnishings at their whim. With each member of the family considered and attentive detail throughout, Project Royal Crest will remain a timeless home for all those who enter.
