Ahh, summer is in full swing, vacations are either over or you’re sitting on the beach daydreaming. Meanwhile, back home, Target, Hobby Lobby and other retailers are gearing up for back-to-school, fall and holiday decor is hitting the shelves.

Now’s the time to plan! Do you have a design project that you’ve put off until school starts? Don’t delay, we have a few select spots available on our calendar- it’s time to join the waitlist!

Here are a few questions about what it’s like to work with ML Interiors Group:

What’s the first step?

Give us a call and we’d love to hear a little about what you're thinking about. Kitchen renovation? Furniture for the holidays? This is an opportunity to get a professional opinion on what’s realistic this time of year.

Okay, I’m interested. What’s next?

This is a great question! We schedule an in-person (or online) Meet & Greet, to share with you how we work as a design firm, and to dive a little deeper into your dreams. It’s a 45-60 minute meeting at our studio (we have AMAZING coffee!) and we show you how we share our design ideas and the steps of our design process.

Wow, I’m impressed! Let’s schedule an Initial Visit, and a Scope of Work Presentation, what exactly are they again?

Now we’re all excited about your project! Let’s get a date on the calendar and see your home! First, you’ll have a little homework- filling out detailed questionnaires so we can get to know you better before we visit. This gives us more time for you to give us a tour and we can better understand your needs. It’s also a good time to show us any other spaces that may need addressing.

Once we take photos and rough measurements, plus a whole lot of notes, we go back to the studio and create your Scope of Work (SOW). This is a detailed document that breaks down what needs to be done in each room, item by item and we review it with you in person. Once our contract is signed, the real magic begins!

At the Initial Visit, we take detailed notes, rough measurements and lots of pictures so we can create an accurate Scope of Work. At the Initial Visit, we take detailed notes, rough measurements and lots of pictures so we can create an accurate Scope of Work.

Now what do I do? When do I get to see stuff? How long will this take again?

We don’t like surprises either, and we plan a series of interviews where you make decisions along the design journey- after all it’s your house not ours! We even help determine a budget, so we won’t source anything you’re not comfortable with.

Planning is key to a smooth design process. We encourage our clients to bring their calendars so we can get all important meetings scheduled out. Planning is key to a smooth design process. We encourage our clients to bring their calendars so we can get all important meetings scheduled out.

Then, we cipher through hundreds of samples, and then meet with you to get a feel for what you like/don’t like. We take that information and start building for more meetings. We get to a “this or that” meeting when the design is almost complete. Yes, choices- it’s all about what YOU want! Plan on 6-10 weeks for a typical design creation.

At our “this or that” meeting, we’ve narrowed down options and ask for your input. We make sure each one works with the design concept, because we always remind ourselves, it’s your house! Next up, the Design Preview- where final decisions are made. Prior to the Design Presentation we narrow things down even further, and then put all the pricing in a proposal for you at the Presentation. Remember, we discussed a budget so there are no financial surprises!

Back to the studio (with snacks and adult beverages!) for the Design Presentation...this is the magic! Back to the studio (with snacks and adult beverages!) for the Design Presentation...this is the magic!

Once all is presented and approved, we start placing orders on your behalf, the Procurement phase, and that is the topic for another blog!

Give us a call and join our limited waiting list- good design is a process, and there is no time like the present to get started!
