Decorating with Red

It’s February, the month of love and relationships. Whether you’ve been happily married for decades, newly married, dating or love hanging out with friends, this is the month to show how much you care, and everything red!

In design, red has had its moments, disappeared as “out of style” and reinvented when mixed with new palettes and trends. How do you add even just a touch of red to a home this month? Here are some tips on showing your “love” of red, even if it’s temporary!

Cookware

We love a good LeCruset dutch oven. Available in several shades of red, it’s a great way to add a pop of color to your kitchen. Leave it out on the stove for the month, and you’ll feel a touch of love in the air.

Fabric Trim

Not to overwhelm, but to make an impact, a bold red trim on a curtain panel is a fun way to incorporate red into your color scheme. Red can make a simple textured fabric stand out and draw the attention of the space to the windows. Red also feels happy, and can brighten a space even with a small amount.

Get Creative on an Accent Wall

Art

It doesn’t have to be the dominant color in a painting, but a touch of red brings a hint of excitement and passion to this Indian inspired Dining Room. The brush of red at the bottom of the painting also leads the eye to the beauty of the furnishings.

And finally, flowers.

Red roses always bring love, passion and joy into a space. Who doesn’t love a red rose? If you are not fond of red, but want a little splash during the month of love, a simple arrangement of all red flowers will do the trick.
