It’s Fall Y’all! Well, technically it’s not Fall until this evening at 9:29 CST, but I’m celebrating early.
I love the season of fall (or autumn, but that doesn’t rhyme with “y’all”) because it brings cooler weather, and a “second spring” when every leaf is like a springtime flower. I love the changing colors that greet me around every corner, even in the big city of Dallas. The color explosion is inspiring.
It will still be a few weeks before I even consider packing my summer clothes. After all, this IS Texas and it’s been known to be 90 degrees on Halloween. But the mindset of autumn is so much more relaxed and a feeling of gratefulness starts to set in.
And then of course, there is Thanksgiving. What a glorious holiday! I am not talking about the American tradition of gorging on turkey and pumpkin pie until nearly comatose, but rather the national recognition of giving thanks.
With the mindset of “Living By Design”, it is also a chance to take your own inventory and make changes. I like this time of year to assess what goals I made for the year and dial in on them for a strong finish. Plus, the Handsome Hubs doesn’t know it yet, but our family is going to do a Daily Gratefulness project. We are going to write down one thing we are grateful for each day of November, put the note in a pretty vessel on the entry table, and then read through them on Thanksgiving. Kind of cheesy, but a great way to practice mindful gratefulness. I think we sometimes get so caught up in life that we overlook the amazing blessings we have each day.
Do you do anything to celebrate the change of season? Or a sort of Thankful Project with your family? We haven’t done that before, so this year will be the first. But I think it may be a new tradition. We will see how it goes – I’m sure I’ll update you in a post in December! So go out and take advantage of the glorious change in season! Review your yearly goals and make a strong finish to the year! Start writing down what you’re thankful NOW. And get ready to break out those cozy sweaters and gorgeous boots!
